Saturday, July 29. REAL down until we can figure out what is wrong with it. I spent today removing the shrouding from around the azimuth motor in case it needs to be replaced. (Over-careful undergraduates had applied silicon adhesive between the metal parts to seal it from rain which made disassembly a long slow process. I had to use alcohol and the thin blade of a feeler gauge to dissolve the adhesive and pry the shrouding off!)
If the problem is indeed the azimuth motor, then we have a spare new one on hand. However, it is not clear whether we can replace it on the roof or if the whole BSU must be removed and disassembled in order to replace the az motor.
