Interesting that this happened during a time of a lot of wind/blowing snow (as seen by the FlowCapt sensor).  It may be that this sonic is actually buried by snow now.  Chris reported that the snow cover was quite variable, with only 10cm near c, but over 2' at RMBL.  He didn't work around uw yesterday and may have missed a sonic almost buried.  The webcam seems to show that it is in the snow!

  1. This appears to be the effect of blowing snow.  The winds during the night were ~25 mph. The WU 1m sonic was ~ 1 foot above the snow on 12/21 at noon. Boom is approx. 1.5 rungs above the snow.
Picture below is taken from the barrel looking southwest to WU.

Finally had a chance to look at the sequence of webcam images.  Here are photos from noon on 12/21, 12/22, and 12/23:

Although Chris is correct that the sonic was clear of snow when they were there on 12/21, blowing snow apparently deposited over the next 2 days to at least bury the bottom of the sonic array.  Also note that the tower itself is not as buried, consistent with Jacquie's observations that Tsnows are buried only up to 0.7m.
