Distance Learning
Description:
The supercomputing center will offer premier resource s that support, enhance, and stimulate the communication and application of scientific knowledge of the atmospheric and related sciences for the operational and educational communities.
Benefits:
Enhance existing programs such as COMET. Expand community we are serving.
UCAR/NCAR's role:
Offer the services, fund COMET and similar programs to expands the community it serves.
External roles:
Local community colleges, the University of Wyoming and local forecasters could use the long distance classes. Possible collaboration with AMS online courses for undergraduates.
Time frame:
Long term, once the supercomputing center is fully functioning.
Life Span:
As long that there is demand.
Research Conducted:
Understand the COMET program. Research other long distance learning, such as the AMS online courses.
