  ESMF issues we have

  1. Serial build on SGI and IBM
  You can't set
  ESMF_COMM=mpiuni
  and get it to build AND run – as the compile steps autmoatically link with MPI – so it fails when trying to run. I have modifications to build so that I can get it to work on
  /fis/cgd/home/erik/ESMF_2_2_2/build_config
  AIX.default.nompi
  and
  IRIX64.default.nompi
  It would be nice if the build could happen in one directory – but that would require some rethinking of the ESMF build-system.
  ESMF will put this into the repository and evaluate as a longer task. Gerhard is working on build issues. Erik will send this as a request to esmf_support.
  2. Overflow on d_r8 TimeInterval calculations
  This was reported to esmf_support already. We need d_r8 argument for ESMF_TimeIntervalGet and dayOfYear_r8 for ESMF_TimeGet.
  Looking into having Earl do this, in a month or so. If not we'll work around it, by getting the integer days and seconds and do the floating point arthimetic.

  Status

  1. Ours:
  A lot further behind than desired! The clock checkin is close but not quite done. Next steps will use ESMF more and may find more problems? Or just work? It will also be on a branch – so won't need to be approved before going in – until after the evaluation.
  2. ESMF?
• Build?
  ESMF_2_2_2r – will be the public release we will use. Gerhard will work with Brian and I on getting build approved. That's Gerhards task for now. He'll get a proposal out in a week or so.
• Small issues we have above? Looks ok.
