Remote Access to S-Pol server consoles (and power management)
Using Firefox on Linux, or Firefox or Internet Explorer on Windows, open
spol-kvm.ucar.edu
Login as 'Admin', password is the usual S-Pol root password.
The 'Target Devices' tab allows you to control power or access the console for S-Pol servers.
Configuring your browser to use Java Web Start, (JavaWS):
Your browser needs the Java Plugin and the java runtime, from java.com. For 64 bit Linux, install Sun's 64 bit java package, and link the plug as shown:. (Sun's installation page says to use the 32 bit version - these instructions are obsolete.)

Open a 'KVM' session.
Firefox will ask you what application to use when opening 'kvm.cgi', which is a 'JNLP' file. Choose "/usr/local/java/jre1.6.0_17/bin/javaws".
