School Weather Stations
Description:
Provide weather stations for each school. The local weather caster would be able to access these as part of his forecast. Students would be able to utilize these as part of their science classes and the community would have access to current weather information through tools like WeatherBug. WeatherBug has an entire educational program setup to implement a program like this in a community. They have both hardware and software tools along with classroom curriculum for teachers.
UCAR/NCAR's role:
UCAR/NCAR could provide the expertise to set these up and maybe the initial training needed at the schools.
External roles:
This could be in association with the National Weather Service Office and local television stations.
